Jim R Miller Park Show

April 7, 2007

The folks at the Blast From the Fast Past Charity Car Shows were planning on a warm spring like day on April 7th , 2007 but what they got was anything but that normal warm spring day!

Yes, that is right for 5 straight years Mother Nature did it yet again to the Blast by throwing some of the coldest late spring weather that even these folks had ever encountered!  Not only did it wipe out the peach crop in Georgia but it also kept many home by the warm fires but the ones who weathered the very cold blast did actually have a Blast!

The promoter Wayne Dodd stated “even though we enjoyed 5 straight years of wonderful dry weather on all of the schedule Blast Shows in the past years of car shows, we have now endured 5 straight years of either rain, snow, or just bitter cold complete with gale winds but we are so grateful for the dedicated ones who support us year after year.”

The beauty of the situation is that they still came from North Carolina , South Carolina , Alabama , Florida and from all parts of Georgia in spite of the blasting cold wind! Just goes to show that when a great show is scheduled, the folks who are committed still come. A great day was had with Tommy Landrum doing the honors at the Rock & Roll Trailer, live on stage professional entertainment, although almost getting blasted off the stage by the gale force winds, kept the folks entertained, the dyno put the horse power bragging to a test, and over 40 vendors were on hand to sell their classic car parts and goodies.

Over 100 beautifully etched crystal show awards were given out under the direction of Jim Parham of Parmck Street Rods International Judging and the best vehicles were definitely found by his judging staff.

Anyone who was fortunate enough to receive on of these beauties was proud to take it home and place it in the very front of the trophy case!

Next year's Blast Show will be on April 5th at Jim R. Miller Park and plans are underway for some new and innovative types of car show activities. The Blast Staff just hopes that blackberry winter will be long gone by this date next year but whether it is or not the Blast will continue as one of the best shows in the Atlanta area as it has been year after year with its well organized and well thought out activities and entertainment
